Lot Essay

Although exhibited in Raoul Dufy, La Passion des Tissus, as Tigres, Elephants, Oiseaux de Paradis et Fleurs de Lotus, of 1926, another colourway was advertised in Vogue Francais, January 1923 as La Jungle. The textile illustrated at Honfleur as La Jungle, circa 1923 shows subtle differences in the pattern of the howdah cloths and the positioning of the tails of the 'tigres' or leopards
