A RARE CANTON ENAMELLED LARGE BALUSTER VASE
QIANLONG SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The unusual vase set with corresponding medallions on each side depicting a European couple on a cliff overlooking a lake with castles and a walled city in the distance between a pair of lion-mask and loose-ring handles, the body and neck further embellished with florets reserved on a gilt ground worked as stylized leaves with a C-scroll border at the base, a cloud collar border at the shoulder, and a composite flower scroll on the vertical rim, the interior turquoise (losses to enamels retouched)--18½in. (47cm.) high
