AN UNUSUAL MING BLUE AND WHITE CENSER
MID 15TH CENTURY

The compressed body with moulded chilong handles, painted with a lotus rising from cresting waves and garden fences, the reverse with four lanca characters enclosed within vajra emblems surrounded by the eight Precious Objects, babao, all between a key-pattern border around the waisted neck and a band of overlapping ruyi-heads and stiff leaves around the everted foot (cracks, chipped)--9½in. (24 cm.) diam.
