A RARE IMPERIAL FAMILLE VERTE CORAL-GROUND BOWL
PUCE ENAMEL KANGXI YUZHI MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE SQUARE AND OF THE PERIOD

With rounded sides rising to a flaring rim, the exterior enamelled in yellow, green, aubergine, blue and white with exotic flowers and grasses including peony, dianthus, lily, daisy and hibiscus within finely drawn black outlines reserved on a coral ground, the centre of the interior painted with a loquat, hazel-nut, monkey-nut, and other fruit and pips (rim repaired and associated hairline crack)-4 3/4 in. (12.2 cm.)diam.

No other example with a puce enamelled yuzhi mark and internal enamelling appears to be recorded

A similar but slightly smaller bowl and with an underglaze-blue mark from the Shanghai Museum, is illustrated in Chugoku Toji Zenshu, vol.21, pl.76, and included in Ceramics Throughout China's History from the Shanghai Musuem, 1984, Catalogue, no.92; another, again of smaller size and with an underglaze-blue mark from the Charles Russell and Paul Bernat Collections, is illustrated by Moss, By Imperial Command, col. pl.74.
