The smooth purplish stone with a shallow well, the reverse with an inscription, dated Yuenhe third year, corresponding to AD , Tang Dynasty, the fitted chicken-wing wood box and cover carved on the interior with a further inscription dated Yiwei of Daoguang, corresponding to AD 1835 and inset with a jadeite twin-fish plaque --6¼ in.
