First inscription: "I started to paint this on the twelve day of the eight month of dingchou year (1937)and intended to apply color on it the following day. However, the Japanese had just invaded Shanghai. The cities were in turmoil and I postponed finishing the painting until after the war." Signed: Qianan Wu Hufan
Dedicated to Bang Rui
Dated the first day of the second month of xinsi year (1941)
Second Inscription: "Bang Rui showed this painting to me again and asked me to finish it." Signed: "Hufan inscribed again" and dated the second day of the ninth month of yiyou year (1945)
Third inscription, signed: "Qianan inscribed again after finishing this painting," and dated the ninth month of yiyou year (1945)
