A MASSIVE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVA
MING DYNASTY
Cast seated in dhyanasana with hands held in vitarkamudra, dressed in finely cast loose robes open at the chest exposing a jeweled pectoral, the cuffs and borders of the garment incised with floral scrolls, his broad face with downcast eyes, below a tiered crown incorporating an Amitabha Buddha and between knotted plaits and elongated ear lobes suspending ornate earrings, all supported on a separately cast lotus pond base raised on a shaped hexagonal galleried plinth (left hand repaired) --32 1/2in.
