A MING CARVED LACQUER BOWL
LATE 15TH CENTURY/16TH CENTURY

The exterior well carved in a guri style with alternating black and red lacquer bands depicting two tiers of ruyi-heads above a floral scroll border, the interior and base with a silver-plated lining (small foot crack)--7 5/8in.(19.4cm.) diam.

A similar bowl from the E.T.Chow collection was sold in Christie's London on 14 December, 1983, lot 19. Another bowl was exhibited by Spink and Son, 1927, illustrated Catalogue, p.36.
