The wide shallow centre rising to an everted straight rim, painted to the central medallion with a chrysanthemum-spray encircled by six scrolling peony blooms bordered on both edges by double circles, the rim with a band of key-pattern, the underside with lotus panels, all under a characteristically thick glaze, the unglazed base fired to reddish-orange tones--7 3/4in. A similar dish from the David Collection was included in the Cleveland Museum of Art Exhibition, Chinese Art Under the Mongols: The Yuan Dynasty, Catalogue, no. 175 and is also illustrated in the Asia Society Handbook of the Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection, Catalogue, p. 70; another from the Parfitt and Palmer Collections was included in the O.C.S. Exhibition of Jingdezhen Ware, The Yuan Evolution, 1984, Catalogue, no. 149; and yet another from the Pilkington Collection is illustrated by A. Joseph in Ming Porcelains, no. 18
