A BLUE AND WHITE STEMCUP
DAOGUANG SEAL MARK IN A LINE WITHIN THE FOOT AND OF THE PERIOD

Painted with lanca characters interspersed with flower-heads growing from scrolled stems issuing curled leaves above a band of radiating lappets, the splayed stem with a collar decorated with sprigs above tassels pendent from ruyi-heads, the interior with a large flower-head medallion--4 1/4in. (11cm.)cm.

Lot Essay

A similarly decorated but slightly smaller example from the Simon Kwan Collection, exhibited at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, is illustrated in Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing, Catalogue, no.11. A slightly smaller Qianlong example is included in the illustrated Catalogue, Ching dynasty Porcelainin the National Palace Museum, no. 13
