A LARGE DOUCAI 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' DISH
ENCIRCLED YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK, AND OF THE PERIOD

The rounded sides rising to an everted rim, painted and enamelled to the interior with a dragon and phoenix contesting a central flaming pearl amid multi-coloured clouds, the well with a lotus-scroll, the flower-heads arranged in pairs and centred by stylised shou characters, the rim painted with ruyi-shaped clouds, the exterior with bats above cresting waves and rocks (enamel flakes)--18 3/4in. (47.5cm.) diam.
