Further details
In the late 40's Cartier began made a number of multiple claw rings in yellow gold, bordered by a single row of diamonds, the most famous of which is probably the Emerald engagement ring of the Duchess of Windsor reset in this style in 1948 (see The Jewels of the Duchess of Windsor ). The use of the superb jadeite cabochon in this ring shows that even after the war, when many western jewellers had lost interest in jadeite, Cartier still had customers interested in the best examples of this material
