AN UNUSUAL JADEITE, WOOD AND CORAL NECKLACE

The glassy antique jadeite plaque pendant, streaked with bright apple green, carved as a panel with a boy holding a banner inscribed with the words Zhulian Bihe (suggesting an excellent composition), the reverse with another boy a ball and a disc, each within a border of confronting archiastic dragons, suspended by a knotted cord from zitan wood beads, spaced with two coral beads and an agate tianzhu, the pendant Qing dynasty, possibly 18th century.
Plaque 55 x 35.7 x 5.72 mm
Further details
This pendant is very closely related to the group white nephrite plaques signed zigang, which are thought to have been carved around suzhou. Many of these plaques are dated to the 18th century, and it is extremely rare to see antique jadeite pendants carved in this style
