Of rectangular shape decorated in gold and silver takamaki-e on a kinji ground, one side illustrated with a red-haired Dutchman walking a tiny dog on a leash, an attendant behind holding a parasol overhead, the two figures designed in applied lacquer and inlaid ivory with red painted details, the reverse an inlet with a three-masted foreign ship, interior cases nashiji; fitted with a glass bead ojime and an ivory kagamibuta netsuke, the plate a soft metal tomo-e medallion--3 7/8in.
