A FIVE-CASE LACQUER INRO

Of oval section lacquered in gold and silver takamaki-e and togidashi with a dawn landscape, the sun rising from behind distant mountains dispersing bands of encircling mist, silver sails dotting the waves and a boat in the foreground tied beneath a large pine, the reverse a continuation of the scene with a fishing village in the distance, set against a roiro ground dusted with kimpun, interior cases gyobu-nashiji; fitted with a coral bead ojime and a wood netsuke carved as a long-haired shojo reclining against an overturned sake cup--3¼in. (8.5cm.) high
