Of rectangular shape lacquered in gold and silver takamaki-e, kirigane and nashiji with monkeys climbing on rocks and maple branches overhanging a waterfall and stream, the red foliage rendered in hiramaki-e, the reverse a continuation of the scene with distant trees designed in iro-e togidashi, set against a brown-gold lacquer ground, interior cases nashiji; fitted with a stag antler ojime carved as a monkey holding its child, and a lacquered netsuke modelled as a seated monkey--3½in. (9cm.) high
