A LACQUERED-IVORY FOLDING FAN

A folding fan of twenty-one sticks decorated on each side in gold and red lacquer with a pair of pheasants, butterflies and flowering autumn grasses, the end sticks additionally inlaid on the outer faces with aogai and mother-of-pearl butterflies and colored ivory insects and buds; fitted with a u-shaped metal suspension loop, silk cord and lacquered-ivory bead ojime--10½in. (26.7cm.) long
