A LACQUER MINIATURE SET OF SHELVES (SHODANA)
edo-meiji periods (mid 19th century)
Constructed with four rectangular shelves above a lower shelf enclosed by sliding doors and set on four bracket feet, decorated overall in gold and silver hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with the 'Three Friends', pine, plum and bamboo, on a ground of mura-nashiji, the interior of the closed shelf, undersides of shelves and the base all dense nashiji--4¾ x 1¾ x 5 1/8in. (12.1 x 4.4 x 13cm.)
