Fitted with a square, footed tray, five smaller rectangular dishes, a drawer, a four-tier picnic box and two pewter sake bottles which rest on the lid of another rectangular food box, decorated overall with scenes from Tales of Ise in gold hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with black lacquer outlines and embellishments of silver, mokume and nashiji on a nashiji ground, the interior compartments red lacquer, rims fundame--11¾ x 6 5/8 x 11¼in. (29.8 x 16.8 x 28.6cm.)
