Of rectangular shape set on a shallow, scalloped plinth and fitted with two hinged doors enclosing two large and two smaller drawers, the interior of the case completely roiro-nuri and each silver drawer pull circular, piano-hinged in the radius; the top, back, sides and base also roiro-nuri; the doors decorated in gold and silver and brown hiramaki-e, togidashi, gimpun and kimpun on a roiro-nuri ground enhanced by hirame with a scene of the warrior Kojima no Takanori viewing the poem he incribed on the exposed bark of a flowering cherry, one falling petal inlaid mother-of-pearl, engraved mounts silver--10½ x 7¼ x 8 1/8in.
