Of rectangular form, decorated on the exterior in gold togidashi, and gold and silver foil on a roiro ground with adjoining hexagonal and square medallions designed with interlocking reserves enclosing stylized florettes, the underside of the lid lacquered in gold takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, togidashi and gold foil on a dense nashiji ground with a villa and pines on the bank of a stream, containing a silver mizuire cast as a chrysanthemum, an inkstone, two nashiji brushes in nashiji cases, paper knife and paper pricker in matching nashiji cases, interior and base nashiji, fitted with silver rims--8½ x 7½ x 1¼in. (21.2 x 19.3 x 3.3cm.)
