Each with flaring, rounded sides well carved on the exterior with six five-clawed dragons striding through clouds against a blackish diaper ground, all above a foot encircled by a narrow band of key-fret pattern, with black interior and gilt-copper liner

Lot Essay

A very similar red lacquer bowl together with a lacquer cup stand carved with related decoration, was included in the Catalogue of a Special Exhibition of Lacquerware in the National Palace Museum, 1981, no. 47, where a six-character Qianlong mark and the character xing (possibly meaning belief or faith), for either the bowl or stand is also illustrated
