For a similar bottle carved with the identical characters, but in a slightly stylized script, see Hugh Moss, Victor Graham and Ka Bo Tsang, The Art of the Chinese Snuff Bottle, The J & J Collection, vol. I, Hong Kong, 1993, pp. 177-8, no. 98, where the authors discuss the symbolic meaning of the characters and the double-gourd form in combination

The authors also argue convincingly for a Palace workshop attribution based on shape, material and design
