Of flattened rounded shape, carved in fine low relief with a continuous scene of a building below pine and near rockwork on one side and two fishermen in boats on a lotus pond and another figure near a pier gazing at a crescent moon on the other, with a small seal, tian ran (natural)

Lot Essay

A red overlay bottle with the inscription, tian he xian cha (heavenly river and boat for the divinities), carved in a manner similar to the present example, and depicting single figures in two boats is illustrated by Humphrey K.F. Hui and Christopher C.H. Sin, An Imperial Qing Tradition, Hong Kong, 1994, p. 139, no. 171. That example is attributed to Li Junting
