A very similar example of this magnificent type of robe was included in the exhibition, Tibet, A Lost World, The Newark Museum Collection of Tibetan Art and Ethnography, New York, 1978, illustrated by Valrae Reynolds in the Catalogue, pp. 46 and 47, where the author states in the entry that "Shapés wore these fur trimmed robes (T. Kha Kha Su) on the first day of the Tibetan New Year, for important government winter occasions, and in the annual Yasor ceremony (on the 23-24 days of New Year). Russian brocade seems to have been especially prized for its heavy sumptuous quality, combined here with silks imported from China, beaver and otter fur."
