Lot Essay

Compare the similar Yongzheng bowl in the Chang Foundation, included in the exhibition Selected Chinese Ceramics from Han to Qing Dynasties, Taipei, 1990, and illustrated by James Spencer in the Catalogue, no. 141. As on the present example the peonies and lotus blossoms in the exterior roundels are alternately painted in iron-red or pinkish lavender. See, also, the bowl in the Palace Museum, illustrated in Kangxi. Yongzheng. Qianlong., Hong Kong, 1989, p. 31
