This impressive armchair, with boldly carved lion monopodia à l'antique, relate to examples executed by Georges Jacob in the 1790's, based on designs by Charles Percier (see D. Ledoux-Lebard, Le Mobilier Français du XIXème Siècle, 1984, p. 283)
