TWO RARE BELLE EPOQUE PHOTOGRAPH ALBUMS, CARTIER
One album depicting pendants, brooches and necklaces; and the other depicting tiaras and diadems
These are two rare and important albums documenting the work of Cartier during the turn-of-the-century and providing insight into Cartier's astonishing archives.

Many of the illustrated pieces are known today. Christie's New York auctioned a "kokoshnik" tiara in April 1992, a photograph of which appears in the tiara album as No. 2232. Other pieces photographed in the album are documented in Hans Nadelhoffer's book "Cartier, Jewelers Extraordinary". On page 73, for example, a magnificent diamond wing tiara is shown and on page 71, no. 63, we see another "kokoshnik" tiara, this one commissioned by Grand Duchess Vladimir in 1909.

The sheer beauty of these objects is a clear illustration of why Cartier is considered to be one of the greatest jewelers of all time.
