Lot Essay

This supper service is based on that from an important silver-gilt dinner service commissioned by Napoleon as an official gift to Bernadotte, Marshall of France and later King of Sweden. The original service was made by Biennais and was subsequently acquired by the Puiforcat Collection, now at the Louvre.
