Color frontispiece (of a mouse sitting on a spool of cotton) and 26 color illustrations. 12mo, original floral cloth, upper cover with two gilt-lettered white cloth labels, color decorated endpapers (Linder 1 [used four times]), some age-darkening and light soiling to cloth, a few splits along upper joint, some printed text smudged on p. 85, minor marginal soiling and wear. FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE (October, 1903), IN DE-LUXE FLORAL CLOTH BINDING. The covers are bound in a floral fabric from Beatrix Potter's grandfather's factory. Linder, p. 423; V & A 1570.
