Small 4to, original brown paper boards, upper cover with inset circular color pictorial label, mottled lavender endpapers, spine ends rubbed, scrape on lower board, some cracking of paper along joints near ends, endpapers a little browned (as usual). FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, with mottled lavender endpapers and cover design of a cat's head within small circle, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY BEATRIX POTTER'S FATHER, RUPERT on the half-title (in pencil): "Mrs. Moore from Rupert Potter Christmas 1905."
