POTTER, BEATRIX. Autograph letter signed ("Beatrix Heelis"), to Mrs. Martin, regarding property and family matters. Hill Top Farm, Sawrey, 28 October 1913. Oblong 8vo, some spotting. Taylor, Letters, p. 213.
"Dear Mrs. Martin, I wonder whether you would mind telling me what you paid for the 'Bungalow'? (Of course that was in summer?) I'm sure Flemings must know but Mrs. Hutchinson asks, but they are so densely ignorant that I have an aroused suspicion, there may be an intention to 'try it on'!...It is a nice little house, but rather plain in winter...I am going to London this next week - Thursday - as my mother is changing servants - It is rather soon to have to leave the disconsolate Wm. People are sure to say we have quarrelled!..." The Heelis's had only been married two weeks prior.
