POTTER, BEATRIX. Autograph letter signed ("H.B. Heelis"), to Miss Holdsworth, suggesting sites for the Chorlton Guides to camp in the Lake District. Castle Cottage, Sawrey, 14 March 1929. 2 pages, 8vo, written on recto and verso, creased from folding.
An interesting letter in which Potter recommends camping sites in her Sawrey neighborhood. "I am so pleased to hear that the Chorlton Guides are coming again...It is a good idea to change to this side, and some of your guides have seen this neighbourhood. The usual camping place favoured by the Windermere troops...is at Hawkshead Field on the west side of Easthwaite Lake. I don't know why they choose that part of the farm instead of this part near Sawrey..." The postscript at the top of the first page reads: "P.S. Probably your guides were choosing a camp, the little monkeys! have they picked a place already!"
