POTTER, BEATRIX. Autograph letter signed ("Beatrix Potter"), to Miss Clara Ryan, humorously responding to a request for an autograph, mentioning the Lake District poets, and French translations of her works. N.p., 23 January(?) 1930. One page, small 8vo, integral leaf blank, some light browning and soiling, a few tiny pinholes.
"'No more twist!' 'No more twist!' If the Geographical Magazine leads to requests for autographs - I shall be wishing that the writer had allowed this here 'rabbit' to sleep like the dead lions. It was the Lake district that gave its name to the group of poets - not the other way around, as you suggest. I liked Mlle. Ballon's French trans., especially Poupette-à-L'Epingle. Yours sincerely Beatrix Potter."
