A GEORGE II SILVER HOT-WATER KETTLE ON STAND WITH LAMP
Maker's mark of William Partis, Newcastle, circa 1740, date letter lacking, maker's mark under lamp very worn
The molded bullet form kettle on rim base, one side engraved with coat-of-arms within asymmetrical cartouche enclosed by elaborate foliate and fruits, the other side with crest, the shoulder and part of the hinged, low domed cover, engraved with reeded scrolls, branches and ?thistles, with partly fluted, shell-topped spout, with multi-scroll swing handle, the circular base with fixed lamp, fluted frame with tied floral festoons aprons, on three multi-scroll supports on shell feet, burner cover unmarked--height of kettle on stand over handle 13¼in. (33.6cm.) high, gross weight 67oz.
