A PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER TELESCOPIC CANDLESTICKS AND A SWEETMEAT BASKET
The pair maker's mark of Smith, Tate & Co. (Nicholson & Hoult), Sheffield, 1810; the basket Aldridge & Green, London, 1781
The candlesticks each inset with wood, the slightly molded rising circular base supporting cylindrical stem, with campana form socket--7in. to 9¾in. (17.7 to 24.7cm.) high; the oval basket with vacant, tied husk bordered, oval cartouche, pierced with pales bordered by Vitruvian wave band, with beaded rim and swing handle--6¼in. (15.8cm.) long, the basket 3oz. (3)
