A CHINESE EXPORT SILVER TEAPOT
Maker's mark vertically WE WE WC, post 1840
Mostly fluted urn form, on skirt base, with acanthus clad squat spout and acanthus topped high arched handle, with applied floral and foliate everted collar, the hinged fluted slightly raised cover topped by fluted button finial--5¼in. (13.3cm.) high, gross weight 43.5oz.

Wilkins Chinese Export Silver 1785-1885, Milton, MA, Museum of the American China Trade, 1975, fig. 31, for a conforming three piece tea service, maker's mark of Wongshing. "Although there is relatively little work so far observed bearing the third mark WE/WE/WC, all of it displays the finest workmanship. The mark is not yet attributed to any maker".
