During 1935-36, Peter Sekaer worked as an assistant to Evans. In 1935 he made the prints for Evans' Exhibition of Photographs of African Negro Art held at the Museum of Modern Art. Later, Sekaer accompanied Evans during part of travels to the South. The two are known to have shared equipment and darkroom space, and while working for Evans, Sekaer photographed many of the same subjects. Although signed and dated by the photographer (probably later in life), this undocumented image of two children at a window in Tupelo is stylistically uncharacteristic for Evans.
