LIMITED EDITION, one of 300 copies on paper from the edition of 306, printed in Troy type (list of chapter headings and glossary in Chaucer type) in black and red, woodcut title-page, facing page with full woodcut page-border, numerous three-quarter, text height and smaller woodcut page-borders, 8-line and smaller white-on-black woodcut initial capitals, woodcut printer's device. CHARLES HENRY ST. JOHN HORNBY'S COPY, with his woodcut bookplate. Cockerell 15 ("This was the fifth and last of the Caxton reprints, with many new ornaments and initials and a new printer's mark... it was the first book published and sold at the Kelmscott Press"); Peterson A15. An early Katherine Adams binding whose absence of decoration serves to highlight the warmth of the color and the beauty of the leather. Most of Adams's bindings were executed for major collectors of the early part of this century, including St. John Hornby, who gave her many of his own books to bind.
