1960 JAGUAR XK150 FIXED HEAD COUPE

Engine: six cylinder, double overhead camshaft, 3,781cc, c250bhp at 5,600rpm; Gearbox: four speed manual; Suspension: front, independent, rear, live axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs; Brakes; servo assisted four wheel disc. Left hand drive.
The XK series (with the 150 as the final evolution) came about almost by accident. The 120 was only to have been a limited production run of 200 cars to publicize the new XK engine, designed for saloons. After the 1948 launch, however, the response was so strong that bodywork dies were prepared and twelve thousand XK120's were subsequently sold. The XK 140 followed in 1954 and the 150 in 1957. The 150 had various styling developments over the 140 including a wrap- around windscreen and a new "hip line." A slightly wider body and slimmer doors provided considerably more interior room, but most importantly, the 150 had Dunlop disc brakes which hugely improved stopping ability.
The example offered here is believed to have covered almost 46,000 miles from new. The current owner purchased this lovely vehicle in 1972 from its second owner who was heart broken on the one hand to sell the car but elated on the other at the advent of triplets to his family! The current owner tells us that during the past twenty five years this XK150 has been carefully maintained and nurtured and it has remained in a heated garage since purchase and only on one occassion was he caught out in the rain.
Improvements and maintenance carried out by the current owner have been quite extensive and the list of special equipment and work carried out include: The original engine was removed around ten years ago and the car uprated to 150 "S" specification by fitting a fully rebuilt 3.8 liter engine with triple carburettors. The engine was rebuilt by John Nizen of Nizen Motors, New Haven, CT. Since being fitted the owner believes the car has travelled less than 4,000 miles. Around 3 years ago the car was completely stripped and repainted with polyurethane enamel. The interior leather upholstery was redone by the Jaguar leather specialist, Bill Bassett of Rhode Island. The car has Koni shock absorbers, uprated brakes with stainless steel liners in the the brake calipers, a single heavy duty 12V battery, front seat belts, a more reliable fuelpump, a rear facing brake stop light, a leather hood safety strap and a new wiring harness which was intalled in 1984.
With just two owners from new and having been carefully maintained and uprated by the present owner, this classic Jaguar comes highly recommended.
