The hood with swan's neck cresting above later glass panels painted with scrolls over a glazed arched door flanked by fluted Corinthian columns, the case with a faux-fluted frieze over a shaped door flanked by fluted quarter-columns, on a panelled base and bracket feet, the painted circular dial signed JAS Thomas, Chester centering date aperture and seconds dial and with phases of the moon in the arch, the two-train movement with anchor escapement striking hour on the bell
