Lot Essay

A single related table was sold anonymously, Christie's New York, 2 February 1991, lot 148. Its top was of exactly this form but the slightly more elaborate spreading column and base related more closely to lot 40 in this sale. Both have similarities to a table designed by Henry Holland for Southill, Bedfordshire, and illustrated in Southill: A Regency House, London, 1951, pl. 45.
