Lot Essay

Pissarro first observed the streets of Rouen in 1883. He later recalled these images in a series of drawings which illustrate the artist's interest in Gothic architecture. Rue Eugène Dutuit, Ruen is a study for the lithograph D.175 of the same title in Loys Delteil's La peinte-graveur, illustré, vol. 17.
Joachim Pissarro and Christopher Lloyd will include these drawings in their forthcoming catalogue raissoné of Pissarro drawings.
