Lot Essay

According to Zigrosser, the edition size of Brooklyn Bridge No. 6 (Swaying) was presumably very small. New Republic was issued in an edition of about 500 and the Marin prints included in this portfolio were divided between Brooklyn Bridge No. 6 (Swaying) and Downtown, the El. Zigrosser believes that Brooklyn Bridge No. 6 (Swaying) was originally chosen for the New Republic but had to be withdrawn early in the printing and replaced by Downtown, the El because the plate was damaged.
