QUEEN VICTORIA WARNS AGAINST MIXED MARRIAGES. "I duly received your letter...the contents of which I must own grieved me very much....Of course I wish you all possible happiness but I hope that you have reflected well on the want of means & above all of the great difficulties which are in the way in the present day, of mixed marriages. If a promise is not given that all the children are not [sic] to be brought up as Catholics, I understand that now the Priest will refuse to marry them. I have known so many instances of such difficulty even amongst my own relations that I cannot help pointing it out to you..."
