Mainly regarding The Lantern, a San Francisco literary magazine: "...If Mr. [Theodore F.] Bonnet and Mr. [Edward F.] O'Day [the editors] want me to give them a couple of lines about The Lantern, in praise of The Lantern, I can only suggest that I scarcely find myself in position, after the way they have treated me all these years, to volunteer such praise. On the other hand, if Mr. Bonnet and Mr. O'Day will write to me, requesting this praise, and will also send me some copies of The Lantern to look at, I shall be only too glad to send them such lines of praise..."
