Together 6½ pages, 8vo, one formerly tipped to another sheet, all in good condition. LONGFELLOW DISCUSSES POETRY. 29 December 1874: "...I have always been in favor of small volumes of poetry. A large volume is oppressive, and fatigues the mind..."; 30 January 1875: "I am happy to say that the books have arrived safely..."; 14 February 1878: "I am much obliged to you for your brother's poem 'Sambro Light.' I like it well, and shall be very glad to see it in 'Poems of Places...' Together 3 items.
