THOMAS, DYLAN. Typed contract letter signed ("Dylan Thomas"), an agreement between Thomas and Felix G. Gerstman of New York for a proposed reading tour, New York, 30 October 1953, 2 pages, 4to, single-spaced, carbon copy, signed at end by Thomas and Gerstman and with an insertion in the text initialed by both, near Thomas's signature Elizabeth Reitell has pencilled: "last signature of D.T." (Thomas began his last real binge the next day, falling into a coma on 4 November and dying on 9 November) -- THOMAS. Four checks made out to Thomas by Elizabeth Reitell and each endorsed on verso by him, New York, 19-31 May 1953, 4 oblongs, with cancelled stamps, etc, drawn on The National City Bank of New York for amounts ranging from $10 to $75 -- [THOMAS]. Two photographs of Thomas drinking at the White Horse Tavern on Hudson St., New York (one with John Malcolm Brinnin in the background), each 205 x 255 mm. (8 x 10 in.), labelled by Elizabeth Reitell in pencil on versos: "Last photo of Dylan White Horse about 30 Oct. '53," with a contact sheet showing 12 photographs (all similar) of Thomas drinking at the White Horse with two men, same size as preceding, also labelled in pencil on verso by Reitell.
