An interesting collection of family papers written by the descendants of Rufus King, a great American statesman. His career spanned more than forty years: as a member of the Continental Congress, Rufus helped frame the Constitution and played a large role in securing its passage in Massachusetts, he was later elected to the Senate, appointed U.S. Minister to Great Britain, and made two unsuccessful bids for the Vice-Presidency (in 1804 and 1808), before making an unsuccessful bid for the Presidency in 1816. Together approximately 150 items.
