In the case of Ulysses Lindley and Theodore Baker vs. John Williams, Lincoln, representing the defendants on behalf of the firm of Lincoln & Herndon, pens a petition: "And the said defendants come and defend the wrong and injury...because they say that plaintiff's declaration, and the matters and things therein contained, in manner and form as the same and therein stated and set forth, are not sufficient in law for the plaintiff to have and maintain his said action; and this the defendants are ready to verify..."
